Industrial Liquid Painter

POSITION BACKGROUND

We are seeking a skilled Industrial Painter to join our team at Wisconsin Lighting Lab, Inc. As part of our Engineering and Manufacturing department, this role plays a crucial part in our production process, ensuring the aesthetic appeal and protective coating of our manufactured products. This position involves expertly preparing and applying liquid paint finishes using spray techniques and equipment. The ideal candidate should possess a keen eye for detail, have hands-on experience in industrial painting, and be well-versed in industry-standard safety practices.

Our team members are proud to possess a fusion of hands on mechanical and electrical aptitude. Oh yeah, aside from work, we build/race cars, travel, go boating, sing at Korean Karaoke bars (yes, that's happened), enjoy a microbrew, and collectively have every light pole and fixture memorized along Hwy 41 between Milwaukee and Appleton. RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Prepare industrial components and assemblies for painting by cleaning, sanding, and removing any imperfections, grease, or contaminants from surfaces.
  • Accurately mix paint and other coatings to achieve the desired color and consistency, following precise formulas and guidelines.
  • Apply liquid paint finishes to industrial products, using spray guns, or other applicable tools, ensuring an even and smooth coating.
  • Inspect painted surfaces for defects, imperfections, or inconsistencies, and perform touch-ups or corrections as needed to meet quality standards.
  • Adhere strictly to safety guidelines and regulations during all painting activities – including PPE,  proper handling, and disposal of paint and chemicals.
  • Clean and maintain painting equipment regularly to ensure optimal performance and longevity.
  • Maintain accurate records of paint usage, inventory, and production output, reporting any issues or discrepancies to supervisors.
  • Work closely with other team members, including production staff, supervisors, and quality control personnel, to ensure seamless workflow and timely completion of projects.
  • Suggest and implement process improvements to enhance painting efficiency, reduce waste, and increase overall productivity.
  • Assist in training new team members in painting techniques, safety protocols, and best practices.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Excellent hand-eye coordination, attention to detail, and ability to maintain a high level of precision in painting tasks.
  • Familiarity with safety protocols related to handling paint, chemicals, and painting equipment, ensuring a safe working environment.
  • Ability to work with changing production demands and deadlines, while maintaining quality and efficiency.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, enabling effective teamwork and coordination with other departments.
  • Ability to stand, stoop, bend, and lift heavy objects
  • Demonstrated ability to identify and troubleshoot painting-related issues and implement appropriate solutions.
  • Willingness to work overtime and adjust work hours as needed to meet production schedules.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow technical specifications and drawings.
  • Interest in, and experience with, technology and computers.
  • Clear desire to work in a small, "start-up" business culture and be an integral part of our growing team.
